Karaage · rice · chili · mayo · sunny-side

Crisp Indo-Dutch fried chicken on rice, doused in mayo, finished with a sunny-side egg and chili oil. Built for an unhurried lunch.
"Nothing here is plated for the feed. The egg cracks where it cracks. That's the point."
Monday Co Dago is the kind of cafe that asks why are you here before it asks will you photograph us. The brick walls have been shedding paint since before the building was a cafe, and nobody has tried to fix that.
The bones are heritage Bandung — exposed beams, raw concrete columns, slate floors that swallow footfall. The furniture is mid-century: marble bar tops, blackened steel legs, soft navy banquettes. The courtyard runs hot red with metal stools and palms. The whole place is a quiet argument with influencer aesthetics, and it's louder than any signage.
Regulars come for four-hour mornings, the second Americano, the wifi that holds. You will not be hurried.

The brick wall and the long marble table got me through three deadlines this month.
Spicy kip mayo rice plus iced Americano. That's the lunch. Don't overthink it.
Found this hidden behind a Dago side street and it's now the only cafe I bring out-of-town friends to.
